I graduated from the Lakeside School of Massage Therapy in 2009 and learned from the best! In 2011, the Lakeside program was purchased by and moved to Herzing in Brookfield. Although the program still exists locally, I feel very fortunate to have be trained prior to the transfer when massage therapy industry experts had complete control over the curriculum and training process. Seasoned experts will tell you they can tell the difference between an "old Lakeside" graduate and a new one, and I am proud to call myself an "old" Lakeside massage therapist!
After graduation, I started out by working in a busy franchise massage clinic, which was a great way to quickly get a ton of experience on a wide variety of clients. I was trained in hot stone massage, aromatherapy and prenatal massage there and practiced all three techniques regularly. I also gave hundreds of Swedish relaxation massages and deep tissue massages and met new clients with new challenges every day.
After that, I spent a few years working part time with a chiropractor and part time in a salon/spa environment. The chiropractor I worked for specialized in billing insurance for workman's comp and auto accidents, so I was able to learn a lot from him and his patients! I did a lot of focused work targeting injuries and chronic problems usually in the neck, shoulders, back and hips helping patients with pain, mobility and flexibility. It was during this time that I really became fluent in craniosacral massage and trigger point therapy.
The spa world, while not for me in the long run, is where I learned everything I needed to know about running a successful business. Marketing and networking-both online and offline, tracking numbers and balancing books, and most importantly ensuring the client has a positive experience with regard to every aspect of their service are all crucial for survival in the highly competitive salon and spa market. Prior to this experience, I was very focused on honing my massage therapy skills and nothing else. The self discipline and consistent concern for the clients total experience needed to be successful in the spa industry is what gave me the confidence to create a massage practice of my very own.
In 2016 I created Tosa Healers Clinic LLC and the following spring we moved to our current location on Burleigh along with Whole Health Wisconsin (acupuncture and Chinese medicine). I owe everything to my loyal clients for trusting me with their care, bringing new and exciting massage therapy needs to my office everyday. Thank you for making my dreams come true!
